A Little Bit Alice, a Little Bit Pixie...
I'm finally getting around to posting more, slowly but surely, as I get used to the fact that yes, I do indeed also have a photo blog to keep updated!
These images are from a shoot I did way back when it was blistering hot (seriously, it was over 95 degrees and we were outside for almost 4 hours...it took me 2 days to recover!). It was still gorgeous on the Indianapolis Museum of Art grounds, where we were able to choose some beautiful places to get some delicious images.
We were initially going for a more abstract look during the planning of this shoot, but we ended up getting something between the fantasy of Alice In Wonderland and a pixie in Candy Land. I used the Alien Bee Beauty Dish (sometimes with diffuser sock) with the AB 1600 flash unit for pretty much the entire shoot.

I LOVED the lashes Danielle gave Amy.
A little fun & whimsy.
She looks like a total goddess here; and the setting sun created such a beautiful aura.
Lori whipped this updo together in less than 10 minutes. I KNOW. Stunning, right?
Her intensity was just what a photographer wishes for in a shoot.

Resistance
This is in Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village, and you may be interested to know there was a bustling dog park just to the right of this scene. We saw many, many dogs reacting like this as they were asked to *GASP* pass the fun without stopping.

For Good...
While I enjoy working with the talented makeup artists, models & designers in the area and also making beautiful portraits of individuals, I have a deep desire to capture "real life moments", and am personally drawn to exploring other ways my love of photographing can be used to create meaningful images.
I've recently been able to pick back up with a personal project I've wanted to undertake for a while now - photodocumenting the disadvantaged in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas and the vast (amazingly, surprisingly, and largely unnoticed by the wider population) mass of non-profit organizations that serve them here. I am especially touched by the children in these circumstances, and though each time I visit a new place I have to overcome a flutter of fear of walking into an unknown environment and worrying I won't be able to do the situation justice with my images, this is something I am determined to follow through with, wherever it leads. Following are just a few images from my latest trip to an after-school program downtown...

Hello Lovely Visitors...
Creating images is an amazing privilege, and I've always had a hunger to be one of those fortunate to be behind the lens. Several years ago my passion to photograph really evolved with an analog Canon and a black & white class; a few cameras and thousands of clicks later, I'm thrilled to be right where I want to be - shooting, continuing to learn and falling more in love with the art form every day.
